Do you provide transport?
We offer complimentary return transport from Queenstown return. Please make sure to book this in addition to your flight experience.
If you are self-driving, it will take approximately one hour to drive from downtown Queenstown to Glenorchy.
Are there any age restrictions?
No, we don’t, but we recommend you speak with your GP for infants under 1 year old, as the altitude can sometimes affect very young ears.
Can I choose where to sit in the helicopter?
The seating arrangement on your flight will depend on the number of passengers. We encourage all clients to swap seats after landings to ensure everyone has a chance at a window seat and a different perspective.
What currency is the pricing?
All prices detailed on our website are in NZD and include GST
What should I bring with me?
As you will be enjoying an alpine environment we recommend you:
- Wear sensible comfortable covered shoes
- Bring along or wear warm clothing, including a jacket
- Remember to bring your camera, sunscreen, sunglasses and insect repellent
Will my flight be shared with others and are there options for my flight to be private?
All standard scenic flights listed on our website are open to the public, with bookings combined as they are made. If you prefer to book any of these flights as a private experience, additional fees will apply. Please see our private charter options for each of our scenic flights.
Is payment taken at the time of booking?
Since all flights depend on the weather conditions on the day, full payment is only taken when you check in for your flight. However, we do require credit card details at the time of booking to secure your reservation.
What is your cancellation policy?
Any cancellations made within 24 hours of departure will incur a 50% cancellation fee. If passengers ‘no-show’ for a flight, 100% of the fare will apply. If we cannot operate due to weather and as a result, passengers are unable to fly, no cancellation fees will apply.
What happens if the weather is not great the day of our flight?
We will contact all clients on the day of their flight to provide a weather update. If weather conditions prevent us from completing your chosen trip, we will offer an alternative flight if suitable or reschedule your booking to the next available day and time.
Is there any additional information I should know?
Minimum passenger numbers apply. Heli Glenorchy reserves the right to up-grade passengers or merge flights for operational reasons or flight management purposes if required. Occasionally flight paths or landing locations may alter at the pilot’s discretion.
Flights are also weather dependent. Weather checks are to be made one hour prior to departure by phoning 0800 4354 49. If we cannot fly due to weather, we will offer alternative options.
