Mt Alfred & Earnslaw Burn Heli Hike

Embark on an epic adventure starting from the gateway to paradise, we’ll take you from the bottom of the iconic Mt Alfred and start our guided hike, taking in the natural flora and fauna and getting our blood pumping. Reach the summit and indulge in a delightful lunch, surrounded by adventurous surroundings. Then, brace yourself for an exhilarating helicopter ride to the unknown, we will drop you off at the end of the DOC track, where your journey continues. 

As you journey along, tracing the path of a meandering glacier-fed river, you'll encounter a diverse array of wildlife, alongside the picturesque scenery of tussock, speargrass, and cascading waterfalls. Your anticipation builds until you round a corner, revealing the awe-inspiring sight of the mighty Earnslaw Burn—a moment etched in your memory forever.

Throughout the hike, your knowledgeable guide will punctuate the journey with captivating stories about the area, ensuring ample opportunities for photography and moments to bask in the surrounding views.

After approximately 1.5 to 2 hours of exploration, your trek culminates at the Earnslaw Burn, where a tumbling waterfall greets you, nestled beneath the towering presence of Mt. Earnslaw Glacier—an icon of the region. Here, amidst this serene haven, indulge in a leisurely picnic, immersing yourself in the tranquillity of this breathtaking location where we will enjoy a quick bite.

Following your picnic, your pilot awaits to whisk you back to Glenorchy, embarking on a thrilling ascent of over 1,000 metres (3,000 feet) toward the ethereal blue ice of the hanging glacier—a fitting conclusion to your unforgettable adventure.
